Erweitertes Kino. Die Wiener Filme der 60er Jahre
Next to Viennese Actionism and the Vienna Group of experimental literature, the avant-garde film movement in late 1950s and
1960s Vienna now stands as Austrias most important contribution to the history of art since 1945. In this book, Hans
Scheugl - a filmmaker and historian of modern art and independent film - illuminates the explosive development of Viennese
underground filmmaking which has no equivalent in the rest of Europe. Among the main protagonists of this movement were
Kurt Kren, Ernst Schmidt jr., Valie Export and Peter Weibel. The book also includes a number of historical documents and a
conversation between Scheugl and Peter Weibel from 2002.
