Film Museum on Location:

Diagonale in Graz

March 8 to 13, 2016

At the Diagonale, Austria’s annual celebration of locally produced Cinema, the Austrian Film Museum will present five film programs revolving around the “Waldheim moment.” They indicate ways of breaking open – or “talking back to” – the quasi-mythical discourse that had shaped the nation’s self-image since 1945: Austrians and Austria as National Socialism’s first victims. Together, these works paint a picture of an era when the cultural sphere was deeply occupied with revising the reigning consensus regarding Austria’s history and “identity.”
