Hollywood's Star System

Lecture

Age 15 plus

For over 100 years they have been the commercial backbone of the film industry and one can hardly imagine a world without them: Stars. They are the capital of film studios and at the same time serve as projection screens of a society's desire. The lecture will try to appraoch them from various angles, will discuss the historical phase of the Hollywood star system, will try to give a definition of what makes a star a star and will find out how a film's form is shaped by his or her presence.
