In person: Robert Breer

Recording Date: (May 02, 1978)
Original Format: U-matic Low-Band

One of the focal points of the Film Museum's program in May 1978 was the work of American avant-garde filmmaker and artist Robert Breer (*1926; †2011). Over the course of two evenings on May 2 and 3, Breer spoke at length about his varied work in the fields of cinema, sculpture, animation and painting. In this clip, he reflects on his youthful obsession with "absolute composition" and how it led him naturally from painting to film.
