Dick, 1999, Andrew Fleming

Premiere:

Films by Mathias Poledna and Andrew Fleming

November 11 and 12, 2004

On November 11 and 12, the Film Museum will premiere a delightful little aperçu to go with the U.S. presidential elections: Dick (1999), Andrew Fleming's wry satire about Richard Nixon, Watergate and the 1970s, a film which has been completely overlooked in Europe. Two teenage girls (Kirsten Dunst and Michelle Williams) strike up a friendship with Nixon, set off the Watergate discoveries and slowly come to recognize the weaknesses of the President ... With comedian Will Ferrell in the role of Watergate whistle blower Bob Woodward and the Coen Brothers' star bad guy Dan Hedaya as the most convincing incarnation of Richard "Tricky Dick" Nixon to date.

Also on November 11, the Austrian-born and L.A.-based visual artist Mathias Poledna will present his newest short film as a World Premiere at the Film Museum: As were his previous works, Sufferers’ Version is again involved with music and performance, and is connected to a new installation at Galerie Meyer und Kainer in Vienna.
