Film Museum on Location

Zagreb: December 1 through 5

Ljubljana: December 16 through 18

In December 2010, the Austrian Film Museum will participate in two events which take place just across the Austrian border. These manifestations are also causes for celebration as they signal a new film cultural commitment in both Zagreb and Ljubljana. We would like to recommend them as potential places of cinephile excursions!

The Film Museum will offer a two-part programme (consisting of films by Gerhard Friedl, Dziga Vertov and Jean Vigo) in the framework of Film Mutations: the Festival of Invisible Cinema. This year the festival, which takes place from December 1 to 5 in Zagreb’s new Museum of Modern Art, is dedicated to the “politics of curatorship”. It is the fourth time that festival director Tanja Vrvilo and her staff have created a truly innovative platform for film education and presentation in the capital of Croatia.

From December 16 to 18, the Film Museum will act as a “guest cinematheque” in Ljubljana. A new era is about to begin at the Slovene Kinoteka, and in order to celebrate this occasion the Film Museum has been invited to design a special programme. This dense Carte blanche weekend of films is entitled “Yours”. It consists of 10 segments and 21 films from the Film Museum collection, highlighting some of the inter-related aspects in the work of a cinematheque.
