Last year, the Film Museum devoted an extensive Retrospective to the cult director Edgar G. Ulmer; on the occasion of his 100th birthday, we are now showing the theatrical premiere of the first film about Ulmer. Edgar G. Ulmer – The Man Off Screen (2004) by Austrian filmmaker and theorist Michael Palm is a brilliant crystal composed of film excerpts, travellings, appraisals, and interviews, including talks with Roger Corman, Peter Bogdanovich, Wim Wenders, Joe Dante, Arianné Ulmer, not to mention Ann Savage, the lead actress from Ulmer's Detour (1945), which can be seen on the same night in the framework of "The Utopia of Film".
