Cineplex
Premieres and panel discussion

September 14, 2009

As a tie-in to the group exhibition Cineplex – Seven Experimental Films from Austria at the Vienna Secession (September 11 to November 8, 2009, curated by Norbert Pfaffenbichler and Lotte Schreiber), the Film Museum presents an evening of films and debate. Two of the artists represented in the exhibition will show their newest works: boston buzz by the stadtmusik collective and Zwölf Boxkämpfer jagen Viktor quer über den großen Sylter Deich 140 9 by Johann Lurf. The following panel discussion with Stefanie Schulte Strathaus (Arsenal, Berlin), Mike Sperlinger (LUX, London), Josef Dabernig (Secession, Vienna) and Alexander Horwath (Austrian Film Museum) will look at the manifold intersections between independent film culture and the art world context and at the “roles” played by film in various exhibition formats.

A joint programme of the Austrian Film Museum and the Secession, with the support of the Friends of the Secession. The exhibition Cineplex includes works by Dariusz Kowalski, Annja Krautgasser, Johann Lurf, Dietmar Offenhuber, Norbert Pfaffenbichler, Ben Pointeker and Lotte Schreiber. It is on show at the Secession from September 11 until November 8, 2009.
