Long Night of Museums 2009

October 3, 2009

Film, the most important form of expression of the last century achieves its full potential through the projection on a movie screen – whether it is conceived as art, documentation or popular entertainment. Through its film collections and screening programmes the Film Museum has become a point of reference for all Austrian film lovers and enthusiasts – a dedicated venue which also offers a large library of film literature and provides public encounters with international filmmakers and scholars. The Film Museum is also an award-winning publisher of film books and archival DVDs.

During the Austria-wide "Long Night of Museums", the Film Museum once again offers its guests an exciting, surprising and fascinating voyage through the world of film and its 100 year old history by means of various rotating 20 minute programmes. On the 1st floor of the Film Museum visitors have the unique opportunity of acquiring rare and unusual film posters and books as well as original film cans and filmstrips.

The shows start at half-hour intervals.

Tickets (13 Euro; reduced price: 10 Euro) are available at the Film Museum box office and at all participating museums. The ticket is good for all museums. Additional information can be found at langenacht2.orf.at.
