Rotterdam and Berlin
The upcoming Rotterdam Film Festival and the Berlinale are each hosting a project developed by the Austrian Film Museum. The Live Cinema version of Lev Kulešovs Po zakonu (By the Law) with Franz Reisecker’s musical score will receive its international premiere in Rotterdam. The 1926 film and the newly commissioned score have been published on DVD (Edition Filmmuseum) and are also available as a live event for film and music venues in Europe and North America.
In Berlin, the Forum of New Cinema is dedicating a “Forum Special” to the restoration of Michael Pilz’s epic documentary Heaven and Earth (1979-82) which has recently been released on DVD (Edition Filmmuseum). The Film Museum has also published a book on the filmmaker’s oeuvre.
