Fantastic Mr. Fox, 2009, Wes Anderson

Premiere:

"Fantastic Mr. Fox" by Wes Anderson

May 22 and 28, 2010

The generation born in 1969-70 has produced some of the most influential filmmakers in the U.S. – as well as a modern version of the „romantic poet“: Wes Anderson, Spike Jonze or Noah Baumbach are not afraid to seriously represent yearning, heartbreak and loveliness on screen; their films revolve around desperate attempts at recognition and love, the challenges of being a child and an adult at the same time, the schizophrenic lives of artists and the crazy bonds of family. Wes Anderson’s most recent film, Fantastic Mr. Fox, is an especially affectionate version of the latter theme – set in the animal kingdom. Based on Roald Dahl’s book for children, this “old-fashioned” stop-motion animation is an ideal vehicle for the director’s aesthetic.

The Film Museum presents the only two theatrical screenings of the film in Austria before its release on DVD.
