The lecture by Joan Copjec is part of a series of events under the title Ps)ynema which is dedicated to the relationship between film and psychoanalysis. Copjec, a renowned scholar of film and cultural studies and director of the Center for the Study of Psychoanalysis and Culture in Buffalo, will talk about the role of shame in the context of Islamic culture and Iranian cinema. She has selected Abbas Kiarostami's film The Wind Will Carry Us (1999) to be screened in conjunction with the talk.
