A film experience here and beyond reason
"Have you already seen the film?" This question is often asked, and we forget that a sound film consists of a combination of image and sound and that the latter is a tool whose value is the equal of the image. In a live experiment, sound will be added to silent amateur films. Inspired by the creative practice of multimedia artist Hanna Schimek, who, in her work, uses scientific methods at the intersection of subjectivity, chance, and gaps as "rules of the game," Theater, Film, and Media Studies students spent a semester fully immersed with all their senses in the cinema experience – and came to understand it as an immersive, lived encounter.
