American cartoon legend Charles M. "Chuck" Jones (*1912; †2002) was both patron and guest of the largest retrospective organized by the Film Museum to date on the topic of animated film. In a two-part lecture entitled "Chuck Jones and the Joy of Animation" held on May 10 and 11, 1983, the filmmaker presented a selection of his greatest work, drew sketches of his famous creations and regaled the public with anecdotes from his incredible career. In this excerpt, Jones reveals the mystery of how Daffy Duck got his characteristic voice.
