In person: VALIE EXPORT

Recording Date: (May 20, 2007)
Original Format: MiniDV
From May 18 to 31, 2007, the Film Museum paid tribute to the influential Austrian (performance-) artist, theoretician and filmmaker VALIE EXPORT (*1940). In addition to documents of her boundary-pushing "happenings," early 8mm film works, documentaries and fiction films, a special evening was devoted to a singular re-staging of her forays into the realm of "expanded cinema" within the Film Museum's walls. In the following excerpt from her introduction to the program, which took place on the penultimate night of the retrospective, EXPORT outlines the theoretical basis of expanded cinema. (In German)
