Tous les nuages sont des horloges (All the Clouds are Clocks)
Regie: Raúl Ruiz; Drehbuch: Raúl Ruiz, Christophe Pellet nach dem Romanfragment Tutte le nuvole sono orologi von Eiryo Waga; Kamera: Mário Barroso; Schnitt: Valéria Sarmiento; Darsteller*innen: Jessica Forde, Alain Sachs. FR/CH, 1988, Farbe, 16mm, 57 min. Französisch mit engl. UTThe title for this showpiece of mystification is derived from Karl Popper's concept whereby clocks stand for total predictability and clouds for the opposite. Ruiz, we may assume, does not believe in this sharp distinction. In 1988, he led film students into a carefully constructed ruse: they were asked to think up and film the last chapter of a Japanese crime novel by the author Eiryo Waga, which had only been published in Italy and remained incomplete. But as we can already foresee, the novel never existed, the real author borrowed its name from another crime novel, and his real name is Raúl Ruiz. (B.K.)
