Our Musicians
A first-class graduate of Trinity College Dublin and the Guildhall School of Music and Drama London, Irish musician Elaine Brennan trained as a classical accompanist and collaborative pianist. Billed as an outstanding silent film accompanist and improviser (Konzerthaus, Wien) she is regarded as one of the world's leading silent film musicians (Stummfilm Magazin). She composes in real-time at the piano, improvising live soundtracks for classic silents, archival material, experimental film and ephemera. She has created extemporised soundscapes for spoken word performances and literary readings. She has also performed within an exhibition context in response to visual art, providing for example a musical response to the Ned Kelly series of paintings by Sidney Nolan live at the National Gallery of Australia. elainebrennan.com

Alex Kranabetter goes beyond the boundaries of conventional trumpet playing and creates music existing somewhere between free improvization and electroacoustic sound art. As part of the experimental duo drank, he works with Ingrid Schmoliner to explore new sonic territories. Their joint album Breath in Definition was released in 2025 and showcases Kranabetter's ability to navigate between different musical contexts. Billy Roisz started to work intensively with video and sound in the late 1990's. Her work focuses on the links and gaps between visual and auditive perception. Roisz questions the interaction between sound and image, the interchangeability or unity of the electromagnetic signal in the generating machines which creates image or sound. The realisation of her experiments takes place in live performances, single screen works and audio-visual installations, solo or in collaboration with musicians of experimental music and noise as well as composed new and old music, dance and theatre. billyroisz.klingt.org
