Film artist Bady Minck met Aardman mastermind Nick Park at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival and in the 1990s brought the claymation studio's early shorts to Austria with the help of Polyfilm Verleih. With their subsequent international breakthrough thanks to the beloved duo of Wallace & Gromit, more Aardman gems were added to the deposit of the rare early work in our collection. The celebrated trilogy of Wallace & Gromit's heroic deeds (A Grand Day Out, The Wrong Trousers, A Close Shave) were later joined by lovingly hand-molded feature films, starting with the debut Chicken Run (2000) and followed by Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit (2005), the (at the time) underappreciated DreamWorks collaboration Flushed Away (2006), and the masterpiece The Pirates! (2012). All of these films irresistibly combine characteristic British humor with special animation ingenuity. (Christoph Huber / Translation: Ted Fendt)
