Karl Markovics

Feature films depend on their performance: Actors. And while we all know them and all have our favourite ones their work is actually hard to get a grip on. A lot of it is not about rationally understanding something but about instinct and emotion. "In the Studio of..." wants to provide some insight into acting, the art as well as the craft, by letting one of Austria's most renowned actors speak about it: Karl Markovics will give an insight into his appraoch to acting as well as his experiences as a director.

Karl Markovics, born 1963 in Vienna, is an actor, director, author of screenplays and founding member of the Academy of Austrian Film. His biggest international success as an actor was the main role in the Oscar-nominated The Counterfeiters. 2011 saw his directorial debut with Breathing, his second film Superworld will have its premiere at the Berlinale.
